About me

Joanne Armstrong is based in County Down, Northern Ireland and is a contemporary realist painter specialising in dog, equestrian and wildlife subjects.  She is a graduate of the University of Ulster's School of Art and Design. She has exhibited with the Society of Equestrian Artists at the Mall Galleries in London and at Newmarket and was selected for the prestigious Salon International de Saumur. Her meticulously detailed mixed media paintings combine rich oil pigments for the animal combined with earthy matte acrylic backgrounds celebrating the character, form and quiet strength of animals. With a focus on expressive eyes, subtle lighting and refined texture.
